The Union Budget of India for FY 2020–2021 was introduced on 1st February 2020. A good amount of income tax amendments were influenced for FY 2020-21. Let us see some significant alterations that affected the Income Tax Law for FY 2020-21
Section 115 BAC, effective from FY 2020-21, manages the new and discretionary income tax regime for people and Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs). A key component of this new system is that the income tax slab rates have been altogether decreased. Despite the fact that the new system accompanies essentially reduced slab rates, it removes a significant lump of tax deduction and exemptions that could be benefited under the old system.
Following 3 new categories of transactions have been introduced with effect from 01/10/2020 for TCS:
Remittance out of India under Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS) of RBI.

Sale of goods
Budget 2020 amended the tax residency rules for NRIs. Till FY 2019-20, an NRI who visited India would be considered a resident if they spent 182 days or more in the previous year in the country, in addition to an aggregate stay of 365 days or more in the preceding four years. Budget 2020 proposed to lower the threshold period of stay in the previous year to 120 days from 182 days.
Limit of Turnover for the Audit was Rs. 1 Crore in case of business and Rs. 50 lakhs in the case of professions.
Finance Act, 2020 has amended the Tax Audit Limit in case of the business. The limit is raised to Rs. 5 Crore in the case of business if the assessee satisfies following conditions:
