What do you mean by APEDA?

The APEDA is known as Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority. It was established by the govt. of India under agricultural and processed food products export development authority act passed by the Parliament in December, 1985. From 13th Februrary, 1986, the Act (2 of 1986) came into effect by a notification issued in the Gazette of India. The Authority replaced the Processed Food Export Promotion Council (PFEPC).

What is the time taken to acquire APEDA License?

After submitting all the requisite documents it will be allotted by APEDA in 10-15 days.

Are any monthly returns required to be filed under APEDA?

It is only a license permitting the export of goods. Therefore, no return is required to be filed under APEDA License.

What are the objectives of APEDA?

The purpose of APEDA can be explained as follows:

  • Development of industries relating to the scheduled products for export
  • Training in various aspects of the industries connected with the scheduled products.
  • Providing financial assistance.
  • Carrying out an inspection of meat and meat products.
  • Undertaking surveys and feasibility studies.
  • Improve the packaging of the Scheduled products.
  • Improve marketing of the Scheduled products outside India.

What are the benefits of APEDA?

  • It is a one-time registration
  • Mandatory exporters of scheduled products
  • Application for financial assistance scheme of APEDA can be availed only after registration
  • It enables registered members to participate in training programmes organized in various aspects of the Industries for scheduled products

How to apply for APEDA registration?

  • To get APEDA registration application shall be made to Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India.
  • Once the application is duly filed by the applicant along with the prescribed fees, the authority will issue Registration -Cum- Membership- Certificate (RCMC).
  • The main line of business is to be mentioned at the time of making an application for CMC, so that same can be referred to the relevant commodity board or Export promotion Council relating to that line of business.

What are the documents required for APEDA registration?

Following documents are required with application form:

  • Import export code issued by DGFT
  • Email ID and contact number
  • Bank certificate in prescribed format duly signed by bank authority
  • Latest 2 months bank statement and a cancelled cheque
