The Indian E-commerce industry has been on an upward growth trajectory. It is expected to surpass the US to become the second-largest E-commerce market in the world by 2034. The traditional offline sales strategy is “ outdated”. With the advancement of technology, everyone now likes to place their orders online. Making a business online has become the need of the hour in society today in order to have a successful business.
India has a very vast market for sellers because of its high population and smaller market. It opens the gate to all new businesses to come online and sell online.
If statistical data is to be believed, no other e-commerce site is currently better than Amazon. Almost 300 million individuals use Amazon (more than double the population of Russia!)
But the question isn’t where to begin; it’s how to begin.
In this blog, we’ll try to answer all questions you might have about becoming an Amazon seller.
Step 1: Register on Amazon Seller Central
First and foremost, a seller must register as an Amazon Seller by opening an Amazon Seller Central account. To register on Amazon, you’ll need two items.
- GST/PAN information of Business.
- An Active Bank Account
Nowadays, opening a bank account is a considerably simpler procedure. Professional Utilities, on the other hand, can make GST Registration also easy and simple for you.
Step 2: List the Product
The following step is to list your products. It’s simple: if you want to sell a product that’s already on Amazon, simply put it under that category. If your item isn’t already listed on Amazon, you can make a new listing.
Step 3: Choose Storage and Delivery
The last Most Important Step comes into play here. It is a store and delivery.
Amazon offers three different options for the same
- Seller Store the product, and Amazon delivers
- Seller Store and Seller Deliver also
- Fulfillment by Amazon
The first two are rather self-explanatory given the name. So we’ll concentrate on making the third one easier and simpler for you. But in case someone tries hard to understand the first two. Then the first option defines that the seller stores the product on their own, and at the time of delivery of the product, Amazon delivers it to the customer.
But in the second option, Amazon doesn’t interfere in the process. Both shipping and storage of product is the responsibility of the seller themself. So now, let’s move to the most useful and efficient option for any seller as well.
What is Fulfillment by Amazon?
FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) is a one-stop shop for selling a product to Amazon customers. You submit your products to Amazon Fulfillment Centers when you use FBA. They keep your products in Amazon fulfillment centers, and they pack and send each order individually to customers. Because of the rapid and free delivery choices to customers, your products earn the Prime badge and the Fulfilled by Amazon tag.
How does it work?
Step 1: Select Amazon Fulfilment Center
Once you click Register for FBA, choose Amazon fulfillment centers (FCs) in the state where you want to start FBA. Next, select the state where you have GST registered. It is recommended that you register in all the fulfillment centers in your state to avoid space issues later.
Step 2: Share your Business Details
You will need the following information to register:
- Business Details
- Email and Phone Number
- Basic information about your Business
- Tax Registration Details (PAN and GST).
(Note – GST Details are mandatory if you are listing taxable goods and need to be provided at the time of registration)
Step 3: Add APoB in GST Certificate
In FBA, you store your products in Amazon fulfillment centers. Therefore, it is like an Additional Place of Business (APoB) for you. As per Government guidelines, you will need to add the Amazon fulfillment center’s address as APoB in your GST certificate. This is however a complicated work and could take 2-3 days for completion. Consultation from Professional Utilities for adding APoB in your GST could be very helpful for successful registration on FBA.
Step 4: Send your products to FC
Now, you have enabled FBA. The next step is to send your product to the Amazon Fulfillment Center. You can utilize Amazon Inbound Transportation (ATS) to pick your shipment from your location. Or you are free to ship it through any other third-party shipping provider for the same.
