Vegan Registration in India - Complete Procedure, Documents and Fees

Updated on April 14, 2025 08:00:58 PM

Vegan Registration in India has gained significant importance in recent years due to the rising demand for plant-based products driven by reasons like protecting animals, improving health, and caring for the environment. To meet the needs of this growing market and give clear information to consumers, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) created the Food Safety and Standards (Vegan Foods) Regulations, 2022. These regulations give clear rules for manufacturers, sellers, and importers of vegan food, making sure they follow specific standards for labeling and food safety. This helps consumers easily identify and trust vegan products.

What is Vegan Food?

The Vegan food is a plant-based diet that includes vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts, seeds, and other plant products, while excluding all animal products like meat, dairy, eggs, and honey. To ensure safety and quality, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has created rules for vegan foods. These rules can be checked through the FSSAI FoSCoS portal. Vegan products also use plant-based alternatives, like soy and nuts, to replace dairy and meat. People choose veganism for health, animal welfare, and environmental reasons, as it helps reduce the impact on resources like water and land.
